I legit spent 1hr and 30mins on this so PLEASE READ IT. Many people have been messaging me how to gain more followers, so here it goes lovelies C:

HAVE A GOOD URL!- Okay so if you’re a grunge blog, don’t have a URL that says s-e-a-l-0-v-e-r people are probably going think you’re a summer/ boho/hipster blog and grunge blogs will tend to not check your blog out. Have a URL surrounded by your theme. If you’re a cultural/indie blog maybe have a URL saying cultural-flare so people know what type of theme you are before even looking at your blog.

DO NOT CHANGE YOUR URL A LOT!-Yeah if you want to change your URL once or twice go for it. But if people know you by your URL they’ll be like “hey where did __________ go?” It’s like starting your whole blog over because people will have to get used to your URL again and it takes days- weeks for people to notice you again.

HAVE A THEMED BLOG! - Some themed blogs are hipster/ boho/cultural/black & white/ fashion/summer/grunge/indie etc. etc.

HAVE A GOOD THEME! – Don’t have a theme that shows HALF of the photo, it just pisses people off. Some people like 1-4 column themes (personally I like 4-5 columns, but that’s just me). No offence but no matter how good your posts are, if you don’t have a good theme people will not follow you. It’s just the way it is.

HAVE A GOOD COLOR SCHEME! - Most hipster blogs have a black background and boho blogs have a white background. I think it’s better to have either black or white just because you can put different colors in your description box and links and you won’t give people a headache as there looking at your blog. Don’t have a freaking animal print background, Jesus. Your text posts/description will just blend in with your background and it makes it hard for people to read them. DON’T HAVE A MOVING BACKGROUND.

ASK PEOPLE TO CHECK OUT YOUR BLOG!- Before this step you have to make sure your blog is at the absolute best it can be, or else people won’t follow you if your blog sucks. After you make your blog all sexy and good looking, ask people to check it out! Make sure you read their FAQ though because it really annoys people (including me) when people ask me things that’s already in my FAQ. People make FAQs for a reason, use it!! Don’t get offended or take it personally if they don’t follow you though, it just means that your blog isn’t their style or you’re doing combos like for example – hipster and grunge.

Hipster goes with summer/boho/One Direction../Justin Bieber..
Grunge goes with skater/indie/urban/pastel etc.

REBLOG PROMOS/PARTICIPATE IN PROMO GAMES! -You want to get your URL noticed as possible. If you reblog promos you WILL get your URL out there and you’ll have people check out your blog without you even asking them to! (Make sure you delete the promos, people don’t like seeing text posts all over people’s blogs).  DON’T FUCKING PROMOTE YOURSELF ON POSTS -.-

REBLOG A LOT - This is really important. Make sure you keep reblogging even if it’s with queue. YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR BLOG UPDATED! I’m not even kidding I unfollow people who haven’t updated their blog in 4days-1 week. I know it sounds crazy but if they haven’t updated their blog in a week that means they’re not committed to their blog, and they honestly don’t deserve my follow. A lot of people are like me with this and I’m telling you, you will lose followers.

ONCE YOU HAVE REACH 1k+ FOLLOWERS, START MAKING YOUR OWN PROMOS!- yay! You’ve gotten pass the hard part! Getting 1000 followers is hard not going to lie. But now you’ll start getting followers a lot more. Now just because you have 1000 followers doesn’t mean that you can make a promo that’s like “FIRST 500” Lol no. That’s not going to reach and it’s a waste of your time. Start out small like first 5 or 10 maybe. More people will want to reblog it because it will get their blog more noticed. AND IF YOU DON’T HAVE AT LEAST 500+ FOLLOWERS do not do your own promos. If you have 100 followers don’t do first 50. That won’t reach either and you probably won’t get any followers by doing that. Maybe do first to 10 if you’re confident.

DO DOUBLE PROMOS WITH PEOPLE! - make sure you read their FAQ before asking people for this. Sometimes when I’m doing a double with someone I gain about 20-30 followers depending on the blog I’m doing a double with. It’s a win-win situation because the person you’re doing a double with gains followers (depending on how many you have) and you will gain followers as well!

MAKE SURE YOU DELETE TEXT POSTS OFF YOUR BLOG! - I hate it when I see like a really good blog that reblogs good pictures but all the pictures are clogged up with text posts and it just distracts the person from the photo. It makes your blog look really tacky and messy. I understand if you’re doing a double, p4p or whatever. Delete it after 5-10 minutes or when a person’s done with the promo you reblogged and made the lists. I’m telling you it will make your blog a lot more desirable and more people will follow you.

MAKE YOUR BLOG DIFFERENT! – I find it really unoriginal when I see blogs that look the same as other blogs, I know a lot of people use the same post theme (grunge, hipster, etc.), But you can change it up a little to make it different and stand out. Personally I don’t really follow blogs that are boring and bland and the same as others. People like blogs that are different from others.

SOCIALIZE WITH TUMBLR PEOPLE AND MAKE FRIENDS- If you make friends on Tumblr, good close online friends you can do double promos with them, and p4p, you can do a lot with them.
